Most people know Africa for its disease and famine. The disease that kills the most is AIDS. Famine is usually begins with droughts, which then causes lack of food and malnourishment.  Most of the problems that persist in the continent arise from lack of alternative means of energy. The trees are cut indiscriminately for the purpose of cooking, heating, building and etc. The land turns desert-like ground and it becomes hard for the farmers to produce any. In some areas where nature is cooperative the farmers do not produce any surplus due to lack of fertilization and modern farming equipment.
